Academic degree

The dissertation is developed during the research trimester.The compilation, submission, evaluation and publication of the thesis has to be carried out according to the ‘Regulations for the Conferral of a Degree Human Medicine.’Graduates are conferred the title MD.

Recognition of the final degree

Examinations taken at private universities are recognized by the state. Should a student move from a private university to a state university, the examinations already taken at the private university (providing they are of the same standard or level) will be recognized by the state university.

Degrees taken at the Paracelsus Medical University have the same legal validation as a degree from an Austrian state university. This recognition was awarded by the official accreditation act. The mutual recognition of Austrian and German academic degrees is defined in the following agreements:

the agreement on equality in higher education and the Lisbon Recognition Convention.
