Each year training events and symposia are held by the Research Institute Gastein (FOI), in cooperation with healthcare facilities of the Gastein valley and other specialist associations.

Radon Conference 20-22 June 2008

The scientific conference "Radon Therapy – A Classic Remedy Used in Modern Spas and Rehabilitation”, was held in Bad Hofgastein from 20-22 June 2008, by the Research Institute Gastein, under the direction of Univ. Prof. Dr. Markus Ritter. Over 100 doctors participated, which bears witness to the rising interest in radon therapy. Presentations included the latest studies on new treatment possibilities (ie. rheumatism, osteoporosis, asthma) and interim findings of numerous ongoing studies on the effects of radon (particularly on the positive impact and anti-inflammatory effect on bone turnover and other metabolic values).
