A further intensive and longstanding partnership connects the Paracelsus University with the Landeskrankenhaus Salzburg (Salzburg General Hospital) and the Christian Doppler Clinic, which both have traditionally enjoyed an excellent reputation in patient care. When the University was established, the individual clinics’ formerly autonomous departments were integrated to become University Clinic departments. The elevation to "University Clinic of the Paracelsus Medical University” in 2007 was the expression of a successful reciprocal relationship. The University Clinic made a significant contribution to the practical training of Paracelsus University Human Medicine students. In return, the clinicians’ enthusiasm for research was intensified, and an appreciation of academic issues could be established. This became evident in an increased interest in postdoctoral lectureships.
