Reopening of the Institute:

The Hermann Buhl Institute’s move from Bad Reichenhall to its new facilities in Bad Aibling was celebrated on the 18.11.2008.  The Dean of Academic Affairs at the PMU, Prof. Dr. Michael Studnicka, welcomed the attending political dignitaries and honorary guests as well as the local media. Professor of cell biology at the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg, Prof. Dr. Michael Breitenbach, held a lecture on cell aging and hypoxia. The festivities were accompanied by the musicians of the Mozarteum Salzburg.

The Institute held a highly-frequented open day for the local population on 29.11.2008.





Surgical and orthodontic treatment possibilities for sleep-related breathing disorders in adults and children

On 1.12.08, Professors Makoto Kikuchi and Morio Tonogi of the Dental College Tokyo (the oldest dental faculty in Japan), presented Japan’s latest methods in oral surgery and orthodontics at the PMU. The professors were invited by the Hermann Buhl Institute and received support from 3M Espe (Seefeld on the Ammersee) and 3 i Biomed (Thalgau near Salzburg). There was an lively exchange of ideas between the head of Maxillofacial Surgery at SALK/PMU, Prof. Dr. med Christain Krenkel and his Japanese colleagues, who were later festively received at the Friesacher in Anif.

Japanese professors had the opportunity to enjoy Salzburg and its traditions.
