One education - two degrees

The attractive course structure means that both an undergraduate Degree in Nursing Science as well as a professional qualification (Diploma in Healthcare and Nursing) can be obtained in only 7 semesters.

The completion of the 2-in-1 Care Model course offers the best opportunities for further development in the health sector; a higher qualification can be obtained at any time. Candidates can complete the Masters Degree in Nursing Science in just a few semesters. This degree is unique in that masters graduates also receive masters degrees from the partner universities of Glasgow and North Florida. The Glasgow Caledonian University, Scotland and the University of North Florida, USA are home to renowned schools of nursing and offer a dynamic exchange in research, teaching and students.

The primary objective of the University is to produce professional and competent healthcare graduates who have acquired scientific expertise.

The rapid changes taking place in healthcare and society require innovative and competent care, preventive measures and counseling approaches. This can only be achieved by healthcare professionals who possess both practical and scientific skills.
The 2-in-1 Care Model course conveys essential skills and competences in healthcare and nursing and provides a scientific qualification. This versatile qualification can  lead to a number of career possibilities in healthcare facilities, hospitals, health insurance companies, governmental departments, medical publishers, health consultant groups, medical care companies or in freelance work.
 
This course complies with the basic tenets of a professional career on an international level.

Following the successful completion of the course, graduates are awarded a Diploma in Nursing Science and may pursue any of the following career options pursuant to GuKG 1997 § 35 (Nursing Law 1997 § 35):
 

  • freelance work, 
  • hospital employee 
  • employed by other medical or healthcare organizations such as medical charities and social services 
  • employed by freelance physicians
  • employed by  healthcare facilities and local authorities which provide home nursing
  • employed by an individual who requires nursing

Special training and further education is also available pursuant to GuKG 1997 (Nursing Law).

Graduates are awarded a Bachelor of Science degree and may work freelance or seek employment in the following healthcare fields- as "change agents":

  • Clinics, nursing homes, outpatient care
  • Health insurance companies
  • Ministries
  • Charitable organizations, public health deaprtments
  • Medical publishers
  • Health consultant groups or medical companies in the healthcare sector
  • Nursing science involvement with development in transition countries

Special features

Internship overseas: Currently degree program cooperation takes place with the schools of nursing, of both the University of North Florida, USA, and the Glasgow Caledonian University, Scotland. The University also has other well-known international partners.

Mentoring Program: Focuses entirely on the student. Teachers should not only convey knowledge but should also mentor their students in attaining the required skills and competences.
