The Austrian Ministry of Education endorses the notification of approval issued by the Accreditation Council - Minister of Education Elisabeth Gehrer signs the accreditation recognition. The Paracelsus Medical University is now the first private medical university in Austria.

Establishment of 7 work groups to plan the private university (accreditation, costing and business plan, development of its philosophy and curriculum, infrastructure, legal terms, marketing and research).

Salzburg’s regional government commissioned the Medical Faculty of Salzburg - private foundation and the holding of the county hospitals to undertake steps to establish a private medical university. It decided to provide ATS 10 million for start-up costs.

The Association of Physicians of the county clinics declared its support for the project’s change of direction (private instead of state).

Decision by the Chairman of the Foundation Board of Trustees and Foundation Board to plan the project as a private university.

Fundraising planning and feasibility study by Brakeley Ltd. Results include: Private sponsors are only willing to help if the medical faculty does not become integrated into the state university, but is founded as a private medical university.

The Federal Ministry decrees the University Accreditation Act.
Through a private initiative (an amount was privately donated by 50 people - mainly doctors and managers of Salzburg General County Clinics), the Medical Faculty of Salzburg – a private foundation is established. The aim is to found a private medical university.
1993
The work group “Medical Faculty Salzburg” is established under the chairmanship of the Rector of the University of Salzburg, Edgar Morscher.
1962
Re-establishment of the University of Salzburg by Federal Law on 5 July 1962. This law stipulated that the establishment of the Medical Faculty be regulated in a separate legislation.
