The institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Paracelsus Medical University in Salzburg was founded on the 1th of October, 2007. Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Markus Paulmichl was appointed as the chair. The institute is located within the Paracelsus Medical University, which is on Strubergasse 21. The institute is committed to excellence in both teaching and research of Pharmacology and Toxicology. Pharmacology is the discipline devoted to the description and research of the effect of drugs. The institute organizes, coordinates and realizes the course of ‘Pharmacology’ in the 3rd year of medical school. In the 4th year of medical school, students will participate in their ‘Research-trimester’, and in the 5th year the institute organizes the final seminar in pharmacology. In addition, the institute follows the students with the post-graduate course ‘Molecular Medicine’. The research interest of the Institute is on Molecular Pharmacology and Pharmaco-genetics.
