Main research priorities

The main focuses of the research at Paracelsus Medical  University at the location in Salzburg are in the area of the regenerative medicine:

  • Neurosciences
  • Oncological, immunological and allergic diseases
  • Musculoskeletal diseases, biomechanics and sports medicine
  • Metabolic diseases


In this respect, there is also a high level of interaction between the individual work groups with many partners domestically and abroad.

This is manifested especially by the existing centers of Paracelsus Medical University, the Spinal Cord and Injury Tissue Regeneration Center Salzburg – SCI-TReCS as well as the Center for Public Health and Health Services Research.

At the location in Nuremberg the main research priorities are slightly different – due to historical reasons:

  • Oncology (including Haematology, Immunology and Micro Biology)
  • Cardiac, Vascular and Endovascular Diseases
  • Mental and Nervous diseases
  • Musculoskeletal diseases
