Specialized training in Anesthesia Nursing
Program structure & content

The university program is designed in accordance with the Health and Nursing Care Special Tasks Ordinance (BGBI. II No. 452/2005), incorporating all content outlined in the GuK-SV.

The university program is completed within two semesters. The first semester (Basic training) is taught alongside the Intensive Care Nursing program.

Additionally, it is possible to complete the specialization in Intensive Care Nursing in just one semester.

 

Content

Level I – Basic Training

  • Communication I
  • Medical and Scientific Fundamentals
  • Nursing Science I
  • Professional Practice in Nursing and Monitoring Critically Ill Patients
  • Legal Foundations and Professional Practice
  • Internship I (Nursing in the Intensive Care Unit, Nursing in Anesthesia or Renal Replacement Therapy, Nursing in Anesthesia, Intensive Care, or Renal Replacement Therapy)

Level II – Specialized Training

  • Nursing Science II
  • Communication and Ethics II
  • Professional Practice in Complex Nursing Situations in the Pre-, Intra-, and Postoperative Phases
  • Professional Practice in Complex Nursing Situations for Pain Patients
  • Professional Practice in Cooperation and Coordination of Intra- and Interprofessional Organizations
  • Internship II (Nursing in anesthesia; Nursing in intra- or extramural settings with special focus on anesthesia; Specialized internship in Pain Services, Pain Clinics)

 

The program includes approximately 600 theoretical teaching units and a minimum of 660 hours of practical training. The remaining workload is dedicated to assignments and self-study.

 

Qualifications

  • Eligibility to perform specialized tasks in anesthesia nursing and to use the additional qualification of Anesthesia Nursing according to GuK-SV 452, as amended
  • Academic Expert in Anesthesia Nursing
  • Advanced Training in Pain Management according to GuKG §64
