English Language Course in Dublin City University

Participant Feedbacks
In addition to the intensive language course, the university offered an ideal learning environment with dedicated teaching staff. There was also the opportunity to book leisure activities such as city tours or excursions into the surrounding area to familiarise yourself with Irish culture. Overall, it was a valuable experience that was very enriching both linguistically and culturally.

The language course at DCU was great! My favourite thing about the course was that I had the opportunity to talk to people from different countries and cultural backgrounds. Dublin is also a city worth seeing and has a lot to offer. I had a great time there and would take part in the programme again without hesitation.

My week at Dublin City University (26.05. - 02.06.24) left me with many wonderful and impressive memories. The language course itself offered plenty of opportunity to exchange ideas with the other participants. The whole thing was very well moderated by the lecturer and rounded off with additional, personalised information.

FAQ

Erasmus+ will partially fund travel and accommodation costs. However, you will need to cover any expenses beyond the funding amount provided.

The EUR 490 course fee includes registration and course materials. This fee can be covered by your department's further education budget.

If you organize your own accommodation, the Erasmus+ grant will cover your expenses as follows:

  • Euro 152.00 per day for the maximum subsistence allowance, which covers meals and daily living costs.
  • Euro 36.80 per day will be allocated for international travel expenses (this includes per diems for general travel costs).
  • Euro 32.00 will be allocated for the Leap Visitor Card for 7 days, which can be used for public transportation in Dublin (buses, trams, etc.).

After subtracting the international travel allowance and the Leap Visitor Card cost, Euro 83.20 remains available to cover your accommodation and any local transport expenses, such as taxi journeys. This amount is the maximum subsidy you can receive for accommodation and transport costs during your stay. If your accommodation or transport costs exceed this amount, you will need to cover the difference yourself.

In October, the halls of residence at Dublin City University (DCU) are fully booked. Therefore, participants will need to book accommodation either near DCU or in the city center.

For the course dates in May/June, accommodation at the DCU Glasnevin Residences is automatically arranged for participants. You will be assigned a single or twin room with en-suite facilities. The cost of accommodation includes the per diems and the Leap Visitor Card for public transport during your stay.

However, if you prefer to stay in the city center instead of on the DCU campus, you will need to arrange your own accommodation independently.

For a virtual tour of the DCU Glasnevin Residences, you can visit this link: DCU Glasnevin Residences.

The Erasmus+ grant covers Euro 309.00 for travel expenses, which includes your journey from the PMU Campus in Salzburg or Nuremberg to the airport and back, as well as your flights to and from Dublin. Here are some important details and limitations to keep in mind:

  • Only economy class flights are eligible for funding.
  • Travel distances are calculated based on the EU Distance Calculator, using the distance from the PMU Campus (either Salzburg or Nuremberg), not your place of residence.
  • The mileage allowance can only be paid for travel between the PMU Campus (Salzburg or Nuremberg) and the airport (and vice versa).
  • Parking fees are not covered by the grant, so they will need to be paid out-of-pocket.

You can book a taxi or use public transportation (such as the Leap Visitor Card) to travel from the airport to your accommodation. Make sure that all travel costs are within the Erasmus+ funding limits to ensure reimbursement.

Participants who wish to extend their language course to two weeks or more must arrange the extension independently and obtain approval from their respective supervisor before registering for the extended course.
