German language course
Course Overview
This course is designed for beginners at levels A 1/ A 2. The focus of the course is on consolidating oral, written and grammatical skills. Through targeted vocabulary work on Austrian German, tailored to the personal needs of the course participants, practising idiomatic expressions and in-depth grammatical exercises, the language skills of the participants are expanded with a view to improving their ability to cope with everyday life in Austria.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to
- express themselves clearly in simple everyday communication situations
- master a number of expressions appropriate to their level
- respond appropriately in professional situations, both orally and in writing
understand and respond appropriately to oral texts from everyday situations:
- making appointments and meetings (in private and professional context)
- leisure activities and everyday routines
- travel and transport
- dealing with offices and authorities (e.g. bank, post office, lost and found office)
- living and surroundings (e.g. apartment hunting, furnishing, house rules)- understand and compose simple written texts

- Grammar and vocabulary worksheets provided by the instructor
- texts and articles relevant to current topics
Course Details:
- Location: PMU Campus, (Room tbc)
- Format: The course takes place once a week for 2 teaching units. Regular homework ensures learning progress. The lessons are participant-centred and include group activities as well as individual work.
