The Institute of Physiology and Pathophysiology represent the fields of physiology, pathophysiology, and biophysics in teaching and research at both PMU locations in Salzburg and Nuremberg.

The Center for Physiology, Pathophysiology and Biophysics (CPPB) of the Paracelsus Private Medical University was founded in 2021 and includes the two institutes, Physiology and Pathophysiology – Salzburg, Austria and the Institute for Physiology, Pathophysiology and Biophysics – Nuremberg, Germany.

 

Tastks - The CPPB

  • represents the subjects of medical physiology and pathophysiology both in research and academic teaching 

  • performs forefront research in the field of life sciences, encompassing basic, translational and clinical research of disease- and society-relevant biological processes with a focus on immunology, oncology, inflammation and outcome research 

  • cooperates with national and international partners 

  • reaches out to new fields of research   

  • utilizes and establishes state of the art technologies and procedures  

  • provides science-based education and training to students 

  • meets the strategic orientation of the Paracelsus Medical University 

  • adheres to the highest ethical standards

 

Tasks

  • create knowledge on and improve the understanding of physiology, pathophysiology, and biophysics with special emphasis on human biology and medicine 

  • improve and advance existing treatment regimen as well as to develop novel therapeutic approaches 

  • seek for continuous development and improvement in all aspects of the center 

  • serve in its achievements to society and public health
