Our institute investigates interdisciplinary research questions and works on the improvement of palliative care education and training. Our aim is the implementation of high quality palliative care in our society.

The team of our institute stands for interprofessionality in Palliative Care.

Palliative care is vital in an aging society dealing with an increase of chronic diseases accompanied by a significant shortage of nursing personnel. In response, our institute addresses interdisciplinary research topics and promotes the improvement of palliative care education and training, which is fundamental to provide high-quality palliative care in the future.

Our institute employs a multi-professional team uniting professions in medicine, health- and nursing care, pharmacy, pastoring, health therapies and collaborates with national and international networks in medicine, ethics, religion, culture, social and nursing sciences.

For the implementation of palliative care education and training, we participate in different academic curricula and cooperate with the Academic Course in Palliative Care.

Prof Stefan Lorenzl is also head of the Adalbert & Quirinus Academy (AQuA) providing high-quality education and seminars in palliative care.
