Paracelsus Medical University (PMU)

Mission

Our Early Life Care research aims to make the factors affecting young families and child development visible and measurable. We use interdisciplinary research designs and a wide range of methods to achieve this. Our goal is to assess and connect the biological, psychological, social, and ecological influences on child development, with a particular focus on the impact of sensitive parent-child interactions and secure attachment experiences on healthy bio-psychological growth.

Research Focus

Interaction- and attachment processes during child development is shaped by complex factors, and our research reflects this complexity. We explore a wide range of topics, from adverse childhood experiences and parental stress to medical issues like prematurity and physical illness. The results of our research are vital for many: children, parents, grandparents, and caregivers, as well as professionals such as pediatricians, obstetricians, pediatric nurses, psychologists, psychotherapists, and educators.
