Scholarships & Financing
Tuition fees at PMU
- As a private university, we do not receive support from the Ministry of Science and therefore charge tuition fees.
- Payment terms are outlined in the education contract established between the university and the student, and they remain fixed for the entire duration of the program, providing a level of financial planning security.
- Additionally, students need to consider living expenses, costs for a laptop, books, course materials, and the semesterly Austrian Student Union (ÖH) fee. There is no state tuition fee to be paid.

Financial Aid scholarships
Paracelsus University offers annual scholarships to help students cover tuition fees. These scholarships are awarded based on social criteria.
Key factors considered include all income sources contributing to the student's livelihood (as indicated by taxable income on the income tax notice) and the number of dependents, such as siblings. This support is recalculated each year based on newly submitted documents. Scholarships are determined after a thorough review and evaluation of these documents.
The submission deadline is set annually in September of the current academic year. PMU scholarships are processed after the complete submission of income documentation (code 245 on the annual income statement for employed persons or taxable income for self-employed individuals). The university reserves the right to allocate scholarships based on available financial resources. The allocation is guided by PMU-established criteria and uses the OECD formula for calculating equivalized income (total relevant income divided by total household size = weighted income, which serves as the basis for determining the scholarship amount).

Note: Students receiving financial aid scholarships in their 3rd year of study receive a grant of €700.00 for their first attempt at the USMLE exam and €400.00 for their second attempt. In the 4th year of study, scholarship recipients receive €1,500.00 to support a 4-month research stay overseas or €750.00 for a research stay in Europe. Additionally, internships (research/industry/clinical practical year) within the EU are supported through Erasmus+. For more information, please contact the PMU-International-Office.
Merit-based scholarships
Each year, Paracelsus University awards merit-based scholarships to students. These scholarships are granted at the end of the academic year to each class and are based on the weighted average of ECTS grades, with amounts ranging from €750.00 to €1,500.00.
Brain Capital Education Funds

- You enter into a sponsorship agreement to finance your tuition fees.
- You complete your studies worry-free, without the burden of tuition fees. These fees are paid directly by the Education Fund to Paracelsus University.
- Only after graduation, and only if you reach the minimum income threshold, do you make income-dependent repayments to the Education Fund.
- Your repayments enable the next generation to finance their studies at Paracelsus University with the help of the Education Fund.
Financing through the Salzburger Sparkasse or your own bank
Another financing partner is the Salzburger Sparkasse, which offers favorable conditions for PMU students.
Your own bank
Of course, you are also free to arrange suitable financing through your own bank.
