Admission requirements
Requirements for application
Before submitting your application, please carefully review the requirements to ensure that you meet them.
- Copy of certificate proving general university entrance qualification: In accordance with § 64 Abs of the Austrian Universities Act 2002 (= European Abitur/Matura or equivalent qualification), university entrance exam for medicine.
- Excellent German and English skills (C1 Level)
- Latin Proficiency (Latinum): The law requires proof of ten hours of Latin studies as a prerequisite for medical school (according to Austrian regulations). If Latin has been completed in another format, an equivalency certificate from the respective school or university must be included with the application. If you have not yet completed Latin studies, you may fulfill this requirement by the end of the second year of study (a Latin course is offered).
- Proof of professional field exploration (minimum of four weeks): To demonstrate a thoughtful career choice, confirmation of a professional field exploration is required. Accepted placements include internships in hospitals, nursing homes, retirement homes, as an emergency medical technician, civil service (with direct patient contact), or volunteering in a medical practice (general practitioner, specialist, or dentist). Exception: medical practices of close relatives (1st to 3rd degree).
- Motivation letter (1-3 pages): We are very interested in your reasons for choosing medical studies and your desire to transfer to Paracelsus Medical Private University.
- Minimum of 72 ECTS, maximum of 120 ECTS in a current medical degree program: Proof of this must be provided through a transcript.
- If your previous university did not award ECTS, you can alternatively indicate the number of hours of coursework in the overview of your previous academic achievements (if necessary, consult your dean's office). We will check your academic achievements in our application portal as part of your application.
- To enter the 4th year of study (diploma), you must have passed the USMLE Step 1 exam.
