Public Health Communication and the Role of Epidemiology in Global Health

Overview
The Summer School “From Evidence to Trust” is primarily aimed at students and early-career researchers in the field of public health. Participants from the University of North Florida (UNF) are explicitly invited and warmly welcomed. In addition, mid-career professionals from public health institutions, as well as students of medicine and pharmacy with a strong interest in global health, are encouraged to apply.
By integrating epidemiological expertise with strategic communication and targeted stakeholder engagement, the program equips participants with the skills to develop evidence-based solutions that build trust and achieve sustainable impact in public health.
Objektives
The summer school aims to empower participants to understand and navigate real-world contexts, turning evidence into practical action. Participants will:
- Deepen their understanding of epidemiological methods and their role in evidence-based public health.
- Explore how risk, uncertainty, and complex findings can be communicated to diverse audiences.
- Learn to translate scientific evidence into narratives that inform decision-making and counter misinformation.
- Examine how evidence can guide policy, industry strategies, and community initiatives.
- Build cross-sectoral partnerships for sustainable and equitable health solutions.
Target Audience
The Summer School is primarily intended for master’s and PhD students, early-career researchers, and professionals from public health institutions and non-governmental organizations. Selected students of medicine and pharmacy with a particular interest in global health may also be admitted. Students enrolled in the Public Health program at the University of North Florida (UNF) will likewise participate and are exempt from tuition fees.
In addition, the participation of a small number of professionals from health authorities, policymaking, media, and the life sciences industry is expected to further enrich interdisciplinary exchange.
