Use of the library

Books can be borrowed using your multifunction chip. A library card is not required.

The loan period for books from the PMU collection is 4 weeks.

You can extend or reserve books through the online library catalog.

• Extending loans
  Log in using your email address and birthdate under "Reader Account Login." You can then use the green "Extend Selection" button to extend your borrowed books up to 2 times—unless the book has already been reserved by another reader.
   
• Reserving Books
  To reserve a book, first select the book in the catalog, then click the "Reserve" button and log in with your email address and birthdate. This option is only available for books that are currently checked out.
   
• Reminder and Fines Procedure
   - Three days before the due date, you will receive a reminder.
   - If the due date is missed, a first reminder will be issued.
     A fine of €0.50 per day and per item is charged from the first day overdue.
   - Two weeks after the due date, a second reminder will be issued.
   - Two weeks after the second reminder, a third reminder will be issued, requesting reimbursement of costs within two weeks.
   - Once fines reach €15, the reader's account will be blocked.
   
• Returning Books
  Outside of opening hours, books can be returned by placing them in the book return box.

Vorhängeschlösser bitte nach Möglichkeit selbst mitbringen, im Ausnahmefall kann ein Schloss gegen € 5,- Pfand in der Wissenschaftlichen Bibliothek entliehen werden.
