Target groups
This program offers academic, interdisciplinary training for professionals engaged in the areas of pregnancy, birth, becoming a parent, and the early years of life, including:
- Medical professionals (pediatricians, gynecologists, general practitioners in relevant healthcare settings)
- Psychologists, psychotherapists, philosophers, social scientists and counsellors
- Midwives, childbirth educators, lactation consultants
- Professionals with relevant experience in early childhood and early intervention support
- Physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists
- Health and nursing staff, pediatric nurses, nursing scientists
- Educators, social educators, social workers
- Medical Support Staff
- Dietitians
- Legal Professionals
The program’s students come from diverse professional backgrounds and seek to expand their skills in specialized areas such as pre-, peri-, and postnatal psychology and medicine as well as leadership, mediation, and decision-making in healthcare. They aim to conduct research and develop actionable concepts to apply within their respective fields.
Eligibility for the basic program
To be eligible for the Early Life Care University Program, applicants must meet the following admission requirements:
- Completed Relevant Professional Training: In fields such as medicine, nursing, nursing science, midwifery, midwifery science, psychology, education, psychotherapy, logotherapy, physiotherapy, social pedagogy, or related areas.
- Relevant professional experience of at least 3 years. Relevant training and further education periods can be taken into account. The relevant professional experience can be shortened by the program director if a degree is available.
- Current employment in the area of early life care at the time of admission.
- Personal suitability
- Ability to reflect, empathy, willingness to engage in (group) supervision and self-reflection
- Language proficiency in German (C1) and English (B1).
- Minimum age of 24 years
- Positive evaluation as part of the admission process
Admission decisions are made individually by the program director following the submission of a complete written application.
Students with disabilities and/or chronic illnesses are fully supported and experience no disadvantages in the program. The principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the Equality Act, and the concept of reasonable accommodation apply.
