Publishing Open Access
Information on the FWF's open access block grant
As of January 1, 2024, the Open Access Block Grant has replaced the Peer-Reviewed Publication Program. The costs for open access publications will no longer be covered by the FWF, but will be handled by the University Library of PMU.
Funding criteria:
- Funding is available for open occess fees for peer-reviewed journal articles resulting from FWF projects that are processed through the PROFI funding mode of the PMU.
- Articles must comply with the FWF's Open Access Policy.
- Articles must be published in open access journals listed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) or in journals with which the PMU has an OA publishing agreement (Elsevier, Springer, Wiley).
- The corresponding author is a member of the PMU.
- The publication is under the Creative Commons license CC BY. (Other types of CC licenses such as CC BY-NC or CC BY-ND are not eligible for funding).
- The FWF is acknowledged as the funding agency by including the following text in the submission: „This research was funded in whole or in part by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) [grant DOI]. For open access purposes, the author has applied a CC BY public copyright license to any author accepted manuscript version arising from this submission.“
- There is no legal entitlement to funding.
