Profile of the program
Unique in the German-speaking countries, we regularly welcome international lecturers from relevant organizations (EU, WHO, funding agencies, from Europe, the USA, Scandinavia and New Zealand). Also, students have the opportunity to obtain a Certificate in Global Health through the PMU-University North of Florida (UNF) collaboration.
Our degree program train, scientifically, qualified young public health professionals who are capable of:
- Understanding the root causes of health and disease, including the frequency and distribution of diseases within the populations (Applied epidemiology)
- Raising awareness of the social and environmental determinants of health (Prevention and health promotion)
- Applying public health principles and addressing complex issues from a multidisciplinary perspective (Health science: Public health)
- Critically evaluating global health practices and determining their scientific value (Global health)
- Implementing and evaluating health and quality quality management strategies within the healthcare sector (Health management)
- Innovating and appraising healthcare systems structures and service delivery (Healthcare systems and healthcare research)
- Assessing the efficacy and effectiveness of interventions aimed at health promotion, disease prevention, and medical treatment (Evidence-based decision-making)
- Assessing the impact of healthcare technologies, processes and procedures (Health technology assessment)
- Applying scientific theories and methods to assess structural, organizational, and financial aspects of healthcare (Health economics)
- Developing and assessing innovations in the healthcare system, including eHealth, digitalization, and medical technologies
- Promoting policies that consider the social and ethical dimensions for sustainable health development (Health policy)
