There was more than one reason to celebrate at Paracelsus University in Salzburg on June 27, 2024: First, the Human Medicine students of the 2019 cohort (5th year) completed their thesis defenses. Following that, students from the 2022 cohort (2nd year) received their white coats during the formal White Coat Ceremony held at the Jörg Rehn Auditorium. Additionally, the "Teacher of the Year" award was presented, along with other awards in Human Medicine and Pharmacy. Afterwards, students and faculty from both disciplines celebrated together at the university's summer festival.

The White Coat Ceremony, originating from U.S. medical schools, marks the transition from the preclinical to the clinical phase of medical studies. At PMU, the "white coat" is awarded upon reaching eligibility for clinical internships (Famulatur) during a small ceremony, where students pledge their commitment to the study of Human Medicine (to learn, to know, and to help) and to uphold the PMU Code of Ethics.
