Nursing Science and Public Health: Graduation Celebrated
October 24, 2025 – A Day of Celebration:
It was that time again: the graduation ceremony for nearly 70 PMU graduates at the Paracelsus Medical Private University (PMU) in Salzburg. A total of 27 Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN), 16 Master of Science in Public Health (MScPH), 22 Master of Science in Advanced Nursing Practice (MScANP), and two Ph.D. graduates from the doctoral program in Nursing & Allied Health Sciences successfully completed their studies. Last Friday, the well-deserved diplomas were awarded in the Grand Aula of the University of Salzburg. Alongside university dignitaries and invited guests, numerous family members and friends celebrated with the newly graduated academics.
PMU Rector Univ.-Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Sperl congratulated the graduates on their academic achievements and emphasized the unique triad of nursing science and practice, human medicine, and pharmacy at the university campus. He concluded his speech with the words: “Be proud of yourselves and your accomplishments – we certainly are.” He also expressed his gratitude to Univ.-Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Osterbrink, Head and Dean of the Institute of Nursing Science and Practice, highlighting his efforts to strengthen relationships with international healthcare institutions for successful student exchanges.
A Day Full of Pride and Optimism
“At the end of the day, it’s the people who make the difference”: In his keynote address, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Osterbrink encouraged the graduates to place people at the center of their work, to act with purpose and sustainability, and to remain open and curious for inspiration. He also acknowledged the dedication and capabilities of all involved, which were crucial to the successful completion of their studies.
Following the ceremonial diploma presentation and traditional closing speeches for each program, the classic cap toss marked the end of the official proceedings. Afterwards, the newly minted PMU alumni were welcomed to a champagne reception, where they could toast their success with all guests.
