Graduation Ceremonies at Paracelsus Medical Private University (PMU) – A Moving Experience

Several times a year, academic graduations are celebrated in a festive atmosphere at Paracelsus Medical Private University (PMU). Each time, it is a truly special experience filled with emotion when a cohort receives its well-earned degrees. This was also the case at the academic ceremony for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (online), Master of Science in Public Health, and Ph.D. in Nursing & Allied Health Sciences programs.

On February 21, 28 graduates celebrated their achievements at the Jörg Rehn Auditorium in the Teaching and Research Building, House C, of Paracelsus Medical Private University.

The ceremony was accompanied by the musical performances of the AroC Quartet and moderated by Ilse Spadlinek. Vice-Rector Univ.-Prof. Dr. Barbara Kofler, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Osterbrink, Head of the Institute of Nursing Science and Practice, as well as Univ.-Prof. Dr. Maria Flamm, Head of the Research Center for Public Health & Health Services Research, extended their congratulations and greetings to the audience.

Traditional Speeches & Oaths

The traditional graduation speeches were delivered by Nadine Quehenberger, BScN, and Tamara Weissenbacher, BScN, who described it as a “special day – a day of reflection, pride, and joy.” In the presence of their families and friends, the graduates solemnly took their oath with the words:

"We promise to serve science, to promote its objectives, and thereby contribute responsibly to solving the challenges of human society and its development, while remaining connected to our university."

Flying Hats and Popping Corks!

After the traditional Gaudeamus Igitur, Professor Osterbrink proclaimed, “Habemus baccalaureos! Habemus magistros! Habemus doctores!” – and, as is tradition, the graduates threw their caps into the air, and champagne corks popped in celebration. PMU extends its heartfelt congratulations to all graduates!
