EU Project Re:GenTravel: Exploring the Power of Regenerative Places at the Institute of Ecomedicine

Restoration is more than vacation—it is a foundation for health, quality of life, and resilience: The Institute of Ecomedicine at the Paracelsus Medical Private University of Salzburg (PMU) is leading the new INTERREG project Re:GenTravel—Regeneration, Tourism, and Quality of Life in the EUREGIO—as the scientific partner. The goal is to identify which natural sites in the Bavarian-Austrian border region have the strongest regenerative effects on body and mind.
The focus is on the scientific investigation of restorative places. Through the Regenerator app, both residents and visitors can enter their personal favorite spots. This data is analyzed using geoinformatics methods and integrated into a EUREGIO Regeneration Map. The results will inform the development of innovative health-promoting offerings—benefiting locals and guests alike.
The project is implemented by the PMU together with the following four partners from the tourism regions:
- Wagrain-Kleinarl Tourism
- Bad Reichenhall Tourism & City Marketing GmbH
- Euregio Salzburg–Berchtesgadener Land–Traunstein
- Research Studios Austria Forschungsgesellschaft mbH
The Re:GenTravel project is co-financed by the INTERREG VI-A Austria–Bavaria 2021–2027 program through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
