Gemeinsam zum Masterabschluss – ein Tag voller Freude für HSL und Palliative Care
On July 9, the graduates of the Palliative Care and Health Sciences & Leadership programs at Paracelsus Medical University (PMU) were honored during a festive academic ceremony celebrating their successful completion of studies. Together, they received their master’s diplomas and marked this significant milestone.
A total of 6 graduates from the Health Sciences & Leadership university program and 42 graduates from the Master’s program in Palliative Care can now proudly carry the academic title Master of Science (MSc).
The graduates come from a wide range of professional backgrounds, including medicine, nursing, pastoral care, and physiotherapy. What unites them is a shared commitment to shaping the future of healthcare through professional expertise, interprofessional collaboration, and responsible leadership.
The ceremony in the PMU’s Jörg Rehn Auditorium was led by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Johanna Pachmayr, Dean of Pharmacy at PMU. Together with Rector Prof. Dr. Annemarie Weißenbacher and program directors Mag. Barbara Karitnig and Doris Schlömmer, BSc, MA, MMSc, she presented the graduates with their diplomas. The band Rowsekit provided a warm and atmospheric musical backdrop.
In addition to family and friends, long-standing cooperation partners of both programs joined the celebration. Among them were Burkhard van der Vorst (Salzburg University Hospitals), Mag. Jakob Reichenberger (Director of St. Virgil), and Sonja Thalinger, MSc (Managing Director of HOSPIZ Austria).
A particularly inspiring highlight was the keynote speech by Rudolf Anschober titled “We have every reason for confidence.” His message encouraged optimism for the future and offered graduates a powerful thought to carry with them: “The world is better than we believe. We are stronger than we think.” Words that beautifully accompanied their transition into a new chapter of life and professional growth.
The personal reflections shared by the graduates provided an emotional conclusion before the traditional cap toss marked the official end of the ceremony. During the reception that followed, everyone raised a glass to celebrate the successful completion of their studies.
