Kick-Off of the Cross-Border Interreg Project Re:GenTravel

With the official kick-off on March 19, 2025, at the Paracelsus Medical Private University (PMU), the Interreg project Re:GenTravel – Regeneration, Tourism, and Quality of Life in the EUREGIO – entered its three-year implementation phase. The project aims to establish nature-based, health-promoting tourism offerings in the cross-border region of Bavaria-Austria, thereby enhancing both the quality of life for locals and the travel experience for visitors.
Under the leadership of the PMU (Institute for Ecomedicine), renowned partner organizations are collaborating: Wagrain-Kleinarl Tourismus, Bad Reichenhall Tourismus & Stadtmarketing GmbH, REGIO Berchtesgadener Land - Traunstein e.V., and Research Studios Austria Forschungsgesellschaft mbH. The EUREGIO Salzburg-Berchtesgadener Land-Traunstein supports the initiative as a transnational networking hub.
At the kick-off meeting, the project partners presented the strategic goals and initial operational steps. A central aspect of Re:GenTravel is the identification of regenerative natural sites through innovative crowdsourcing methods. The resulting EUREGIO Regeneration Map will serve as a basis for developing new hybrid tourism products aimed at both visitors and locals. Additionally, the AI-supported Regeneration Coach will be further developed to guide visitors to optimal recreational spots tailored to their needs.
The Re:GenTravel project is funded by the Interreg VI-A Program Bayern-Österreich 2021-2027 and will run until January 2028. The insights gained and concepts developed are intended to serve as a model for other European regions.
