15 Years of Online Bachelor’s in Nursing Science – PMU Awards Anniversary Scholarship

The Institute of Nursing Science and Practice at the Paracelsus Medical Private University (PMU) is celebrating 15 years of the Online Bachelor’s Program in Nursing Science—and, to mark the occasion, is awarding two scholarships.
Just as Florence Nightingale shaped modern nursing as a pioneer, the PMU’s online program represents a new way of studying nursing: virtual, practice-oriented, and individualized. Since its launch 15 years ago, the program has emphasized flexibility, small-group instruction, and lively exchange over traditional lectures. Currently, around 300 nursing professionals are studying at the PMU, and nearly 500 graduates have already completed the program.
Next Generation Nursing
At the time, innovative communication tools—such as the numerous forums on the learning platform, the Virtual Lecture Hall, or a student-initiated Skype Cafeteria—made it possible to exchange ideas about course content and more, transcending geographical boundaries. The annual in-person week at the Salzburg campus further fosters face-to-face interaction, which students value as supportive and essential for successfully completing their studies. Thanks to a special low-threshold admissions process, the program is also accessible to nursing professionals without a general university entrance qualification.
