28 Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BScN), one Master of Science in Nursing (MScN), and 14 Masters of Science in Public Health (MScPH) recently completed their studies at Paracelsus Medical Private University (PMU). The well-deserved diplomas were awarded during an academic ceremony on June 16, 2024, at the Jörg Rehn Auditorium at PMU. Joining the new graduates in celebration were university dignitaries, honored guests—including Salzburg's Deputy Mayor Florian Kreibich and City Councillor Andrea Brandner—as well as family members and friends.

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Christian Pirich, Vice-Rector for Studies and Teaching at PMU and Medical Director of University Hospital Salzburg, congratulated the graduates and expressed his hopes for their future: "I wish that you can apply all the skills you've acquired across the various sectors of healthcare, and that your academic abilities—particularly your capacity to recognize, shape, and implement change—will become effective."

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Osterbrink, Head of the Institute of Nursing Science and Practice and Dean of Nursing Science, highlighted in his speech: "You have chosen professions that will become even more essential in the future. By 2035, German-speaking countries alone will face a shortfall of 510,000 nurses and 34,000 physicians. This clearly shows how urgently your knowledge and skills are needed. Your degree opens up a range of opportunities for you to make a significant positive contribution to societal development. You are well-prepared to develop innovative solutions and transform them into healthcare practice."

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Maria Flamm, Head of the Institute of General, Family, and Preventive Medicine, as well as Director of the Research Center for Public Health & Health Services Research, reminded the Public Health graduates of the "National Health Targets," which were adopted by Austria’s Federal Health Commission and Council of Ministers in 2012. She encouraged them: "Use the knowledge you have gained to drive sustainable change. Be pioneers in research, policymaking, and the implementation of these health goals to further improve the health of the population."

The traditional closing speeches were delivered by the students Leona Pendes, BScN, and Emina Salihovic, BScN, as well as Bettina Loibl, MScPH, and Katharina Hahn, MScPH.
